We hope you had a restful Christmas and New Year, despite the current situation. After a very busy 2020, we are looking forward to running five auctions throughout the year, which now includes the at Beaulieu auction held at the National Motor Museum in September. Previously run by the London Motor Cars department, the Beaulieu auction will re-focus on the enthusiast market as well as featuring the traditional Vintage and Veteran eras of motoring, in addition to our modern, popular and historic regulars. Held during the hustle and bustle weekend of the well-attended International Beaulieu Autojumble, the auction will Include traditional Automobilia from all eras.

20 MARCH AUCTION - BICESTER HERITAGE We already have over 30 cars consigned for the March 20 Auction, including two private collections. We very much hope that the National Lockdown will have eased to a point where we can responsibly hold a live auction at Bicester Heritage. From previous experience, we know that this may not be the case, however we know MPH can still deliver exceptional results both for a traditional Live auction, and an online only offering;  Whatever may happen, you can be safe in the knowledge that we have some fantastic technology enabling our global network of car enthusiasts to view and bid on cars from wherever they are in the world. Austin Seven Trial Rob took part in the Pre-War Austin 7 Club Trial, a fantastic COVID-compliant outdoor event just before the country was put into Lockdown. Having borrowed (or rather taken) Mark Gold’s Chummy for the day, 12 hills were tackled on private land in Nottinghamshire – and despite really needing another Chummy for his other leg Rob finished mid field. The snow fell, everyone behaved, and much vintage motoring was enjoyed by the 24 competitors.

#FridayFettle An update from the Team on their extracurricular activities this week! One of our Junior Specialists, Harry Fox-Edwards, tells us about his daily, a 2001 BMW 7-Series. “Since starting at Bonhams MPH just less than a year ago I’ve been using my 2001 BMW E38 7-Series as the daily runabout. Until the issues of the increasingly irritating COVID lockdowns, I managed to put between 15,000 and 20,000 miles on the car from countless client visits, commuting to Bicester Heritage and getting myself to sales across the UK. While munching down motorway miles is exactly what the car was built to do, as is to be expected on a car that’s 20 years old, it became clear that it was in need of some suspension work as the bushes had started knocking and the ball joints had seen better days. Once we had started settling into the Christmas break, I finally set to work on replacing the front and rear lower control arms, upper control arms, ball joints, drop links, tie rods, steering bushes as well as overhauling and rebuilding the brakes with new pistons, discs, pads and fluid. As is to be expected when working on cars, a 10 minute job is never more than one snapped bolt away from becoming a 2 hour ordeal with more tea teeth sucking than one would think possible. However once it was all back together and aligned, the transformation was night and day. The smoothness and the quietness quickly reminded me why I bought the 20 year old Bavarian barge in the first place and it’s still serving me well, keeping me in the utmost comfort while maintaining the aesthetic of my personal favourite golden age of BMW styling.”

Holden Vintage and Classic have had a very busy couple of months on their website Holden Vintage & Classic and they have continued to trade and are despatching orders daily. The last few weeks have seen a lot of NOS (New Old Stock) items get packaged and sent off to new owners all over the world.
