We have over 50 cars consigned to the March 20 Auction including a collection from a gentleman racer, meaning the collection is full of interesting and well-kept automobiles! The collection consists of projects, rally cars and a couple of transit vans to boot! The auction will be live-online, with no access to bidding in the room, however we will be further enhancing the live-stream experience with footage of cars driving through as the auctioneer sells, which further encourage bidding online and over the telephone! We will also be offering our Delegate Live walkaround videos of the cars once they are in situ. If government guidelines permit, we will be holding viewing appointments, however this will be dictated by the PM’s announcement on 15th February. #FridayFettle Our junior consignor, Harry, tells us about his new purchase, a Nissan Silvia S15! Following the sale of my manual BMW E34 530i at the beginning of January, I found myself in the fortunate position to buy my all time dream car, a 1999 Nissan Silvia S15. While this is certainly a first for a Bonhams Specialist, it’s what I’ve wanted as a ‘forever car’ since I was about 10 years old, having discovered my passion for 90s Japanese cars. Why did I buy it? Simple. It’s a gorgeous design, it’s rare and it’s a rocket ship. With just over 300bhp, weighing 1250kg, no Traction Control and a Limited Slip Diff, this thing keeps you on your toes and very awake indeed.   The plans are to enjoy it for what it is and do small tweaks for the time being. In the near future the gearbox will be sent off to be strengthened, the OEM diff bushes replaced with Superpro polybushes and generally replacing small components with upgraded parts.  In time, I will either forge and do a full build on its original SR20 DET engine or fit an RB25. Both of these options are to push for more power with 400-500bhp being the goal.

“Living in the Peak District puts me in a great geographical position to visit clients in the more Northern counties of England. If you are considering entering cars or motorcycles into one of our MPH auctions then please do get in touch as I’m always happy to talk cars & bikes! Being a confirmed ‘Petrol Head’ since school days, I’ve been privileged (and lucky!) to have been able to drive, ride and fiddle with lots of interesting stuff, some good, some not so good, over the years. It really started with bikes as a teenager when I was old enough to ride properly on the road, transport initially but then moving into off road sports. Enduro’s, Trials and a bit of Motocross ensued before cars and Rallying took over for a while. 20 plus years of racing Classic Motorcycles followed on Triumph & BSA Rob North Triples mainly, but interspersed with a few others such as Aermacchi, BSA , Norton ... Back to cars with a ’61 Lotus single seater Formula Junior for a few seasons before our dream house came along & sacrifices had to be made. Motoring highlights in order would be being pipped to the post by Colin McRae for a class win in the British National Rally Championship (Vauxhall Astra GTE), winning three races on the long circuit at Chimay in Belgium, the only time the original 6.5 mile road circuit has been used since 1984 (Rob North BSA)  & of course driving a 1935 Maserati V8RI, the first V8 Grand Prix car, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.  Almost 400 horses of supercharged, methanol-fuelled, tyre smoking power running on narrow tyres! This last year has been a tough one for all of us, with little in the way of motoring events to lighten up the situation, but lockdown has given me time to fettle trials bikes and fit a new halfshaft to my 1935 MG PA (I broke it last year) ready for some summer fun to come hopefully. I’ll see you out there!”

Holden Vintage and Classic have had a very busy couple of months on their website Holden Vintage & Classic and they have continued to trade and are despatching orders daily. The last few weeks have seen a lot of NOS (New Old Stock) items get packaged and sent off to new owners all over the world.
